Sundogs Quilt pattern

Meet the Sundogs Quilt!

Sundogs came about after I started playing around with a few FQs I picked up on a visit to my LQS - I saw a bundle of Giucy Giuce and couldn’t resist taking it home with me! It had been a while since I’d done anything with triangles, so I just cut up a bunch and started shifting the pieces around until something started to click and these fun suns appeared. The next thing I knew I was trying my hand at facing for the first time and then I had a finished mini-quilt ready to go on the wall!

I hadn’t planned on making a second, but when a bundle of Ruby Star Society just happened to “fall” through my front door (read: my partner is amazing and bought me a monthly FQ subscription) with those perfect little suns I had to do some fussy cutting and make another!

I know how much you all love switching up colours in patterns, so I had a little play and came up with a few different colourways to inspire you. I love the second one so much I made it for myself! I’m tempted to make the yellow one too…how many is too many for one house?

Time for a tester parade - and what a great job they did! I just love the clean fresh look of Olivia’s garden inspired quilt and the soothing pastels of Andrea’s. How amazing is it that Nadia and Manu both picked the same colour scheme without knowing what the other was doing?!

And there you have it! From playing around with fabric to finished quilts, I really loved making the Sundogs Quilt and I can’t wait to see the different versions everyone creates. Share yours with the hashtags #sundogsquilt and #caitlisledesigns!
